Simply A (RD) Fact: Blackberries are a good source of vitamin C (just like oranges).
For the Blackberry Syrup:
  • 12oz frozen blackberries
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • Juice from one lemon
For the Margarita:
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons blackberry syrup
  • 3 tablespoons tequila
  • Lime wedges for garnish
To make the blackberry syrup:
  1. In a small saucepan set over medium-high heat, combine blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook the blackberries until they are soft and breaking down.
  2. Pour the blackberries and juice into a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl. Using a spatula, push the berries along the sides of the strainer to separate the juice from the pulp. Keep going until only seeds/pulp remain in the strainer - discard. Pour the juice/syrup into a container with a tight-fitting lid and store in the fridge until ready to use!
To make the margarita:
  1. Combine lime juice, syrup, and tequila in a cocktail shaker or mason jar. Shake to combine. Pour over ice and garnish with a lime! Please enjoy responsibly.
