I went to graduate school up the road (okay, it was a highway) from the state fairgrounds. Every late summer, the local supermarket sold discounted multi-day fair tickets (which we snatched up with much enthusiasm)… because what is better than going out for a night of fried food + good music? And since the fair happened the first week of classes, we shamelessly went multiple times after class and hung out late into the night.
Our first year was a class bonding session.
Our second year was a herd of best friends chowing down on barbecue and dancing in the rain as Florida Georgia Line sang their hearts out.
The best thing about the state fair (beside consuming funnel cake and fried Oreos with fourteen of the best people/dietitians I know) was the WINE SLUSH.
Guys, I know the frosé is super trendy now. But we were drinking that [five] years ago! It is basically frozen wine (usually mixed with fruit) that is crushed into a perfectly slushy mixture. My school was surrounded by wineries, so there were tons of wines slush fair stands to choose from – from sangria to lemon to cranberry t0 raspberry. But my ultimate favorite? Peach!
So when I had some leftover frozen peaches and a super chilled bottle of wine in the fridge, I knew that I wanted to whip up my grad school fav!
And it was just as good as the original.
It starts with a good blender.
Toss in some frozen peaches, some simple syrup, and some chilled wine. Both white and rosé work great here! Pop the top on and blend until smooth!
Pour into a glass, garnish with fresh peach slices, and a super cute straw. Seriously, the easiest frozen drink in the history of frozen drinks!
Refreshing, summery, and the perfect walk down memory lane.
Peach Wine Slush FOREVER!
