Simply A (RD) Fact: Blackberries are a good source of vitamin C (just like oranges).
Ingredients
For the Blackberry Syrup:
12oz frozen blackberries
⅓ cup granulated sugar
Juice from one lemon
For the Margarita:
3 tablespoons lime juice
3 tablespoons blackberry syrup
3 tablespoons tequila
Lime wedges for garnish
Instructions
To make the blackberry syrup:
In a small saucepan set over medium-high heat, combine blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook the blackberries until they are soft and breaking down.
Pour the blackberries and juice into a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl. Using a spatula, push the berries along the sides of the strainer to separate the juice from the pulp. Keep going until only seeds/pulp remain in the strainer - discard. Pour the juice/syrup into a container with a tight-fitting lid and store in the fridge until ready to use!
To make the margarita:
Combine lime juice, syrup, and tequila in a cocktail shaker or mason jar. Shake to combine. Pour over ice and garnish with a lime! Please enjoy responsibly.
